Crossing the border at Niagara

Niagara has three bridges open to general traffic between Ontario and New York State. The Lewiston–Queenston Bridge connects Highway 405 with I-190 and is a major truck route. The Rainbow Bridge links downtown Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York, and is for cars only. The Peace Bridge joins the QEW in Fort Erie with Buffalo.

Line-ups are usually longest on holiday weekends and summer afternoons. If one bridge is backed up, another may be quicker. You can also use the Highway 405 and QEW cameras to check the drive there.

Bridge images come from the bridge operators and New York State cameras. Ontario highway images are courtesy of MTO COMPASS.
